You Don’t Know the Path She Walks

She walks through the halls with anger in her eyes.

YOU see a rebellious girl filled with hatred.

SHE sees her mom once a week from behind a glass wall.

You don’t know the path she walks.

She has quite the reputation and pretends not to see them whispering about her.

YOU see a promiscuous girl and look down on her in disgust.

SHE sees a father figure and refuses to tell of the things he has done to her.

You don’t know the path she walks.

She sits alone in the break room eating her lunch.

YOU see an unsociable lady who barely says hello.

SHE sees the police officer as he knocks on her door to tell her that her only son has died at war.

You don’t know the path she walks.

She has tried to get clean many, many times.

YOU see an addict and a drunk.

SHE sees her mom passed out on the floor as she gets herself and little brother ready for school.

You don’t know the path she walks.

She barely goes through the motions of her life each day.

YOU see a physical, emotional and mental mess.

SHE sees her diseased husband in a hospital bed each and every night.

You don’t know the path she walks.

She is never on time for work and does just enough to get by.

YOU see a lazy person with no motivation.

SHE sees the back of her husband as he walks out the door, leaving her to feed three hungry mouths.

You don’t know the path she walks.

She feels the knot in her stomach as the doctor tells her she has six months to live.

YOU see a woman filled with pancreatic cancer and no hope.

SHE sees a God who is her ABSOLUTE hope and knows He is in control.

You don’t know the path she walks.

But…

MAYBE you do. Maybe you do.

…sickness, abandonment, death, depression, guilt, anxiety, infertility, loneliness, abuse…

Yes, many have walked her path. Many have worn the same shoes she wears.

So, tell your story. Please. YOU could be the one to shine the light on her path and make the traveling just a little bit easier.

For, you know the path she walks.
