Confident in 2017

I really struggled this January deciding on my One Word* for 2017. There were lots that popped up, like…. persistent, discipline, consistent, present, and give. Although those words would all be great, they just didn’t settle with my spirit.

As I thought about goals for the coming year, there was a reoccurring thought process that I realized has always been my default thinking; a negotiation process in my own mind.  Here are a few examples:

“I would love to be at my goal weight BUT that is probably never going to happen, so if I CAN JUST lose twenty pounds, that will be fine.”

“I would love to write a bestseller that touches thousands of lives, BUT that will never happen, so I should just be happy with my small writing projects.”

“I would love to share my story and speak at women’s conferences (just putting that in print is like bearing my soul) but how does that even happen? If I can just share at a few women’s Bible study meetings, that would be good.”

I always negotiate to settle for less.  Why do I do this?  I think to myself….

“That happens for other people.”

“I am just an ordinary person.”

“I may be GOOD at _________ but I’m not GREAT.”

“Will people question my motives?”

“Will they think I am a joke?”

I have always struggled with confidence!

While doing this self-evaluation, I began to think “Why NOT me?!”  What is holding me back?  I could only come up with one thing…. ME…. and my confidence or a lack there of!

So, in 2017, my word is CONFIDENT!  It is time for me to start believing in myself, to stop settling for less and start seeing myself the way that God sees me! I CAN make a difference for the Kingdom of Christ!   I CAN help people who are struggling!  I CAN leave a legacy!

I have told you these things, so that in Me, you may have confidence.  In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world.

John 16:33 AMP

I think maybe that many of us struggle somewhat in this area. If so, take this journey with me!

You are enough!

You are beautiful and unique in God’s eyes!

He has a plan for you!!!

Be CONFIDENT in this!
