What a Difference a Year Can Make

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles. His faithful love endures forever. (Psalms 136:1-4 NLT)

I can’t go to sleep. I think back on this time last year.

This very week last year, we had just buried my dear mother-n-law, Geniece.

My husband, John was in the hospital with cancer.

One year ago today, I picked Zach up from the baseball field after being hit in the face with a baseball. He broke his eye socket in two places and looked pretty pitiful. (This is the same year that he broke his arm and then injured his shoulder). The doctor at Children’s Hospital also saw some sort of issue with the nerves behind his eye balls that she said was not caused by the injury but was concerned that something inside his brain was putting pressure on the nerves.

I am pretty much a “glass is half FULL” kind of gal. But, when one thing after another starts to happen, you start to get paranoid and ask “what’s next?” I was nauseous the whole next day, while praying to God, “please don’t let there be something seriously wrong with my son.”

Fast forward to March 2014……

John is back at work, regaining his strength and doing well.

Zach has had a tremendous senior year in athletics and academics.

Katie, my daughter, is graduating from UALR with honors in May and getting married to a wonderful young man in June.

I am slowly getting back in my groove. 🙂

God is good! God has been so, so good to us. I don’t take His blessings for granted. I thank Him everyday. Everyday!
